Shower at Work

Although Ingrid hasn't been at her new job for very long, her thoughtful co-workers threw her a surprise baby shower, and invited me as the surprise guest.

I did my part by picking up some mini-cupcakes from Vanilla Bake Shop. Well actually, my mom picked them up and personally delivered them to me before the party (thanks, mom).

Ingrid may not have been at her new job for that long, but her co-workers are obviously already aware of her love for Clementine. Look, baby greens!

Ingrid looked surprised after a co-worker led her to the conference room and we all yelled out "Surprise!" as she entered. She then looked doubly surprised to see me sitting there with the gang, especially as busy as I've been recently at work. In any event, the party turned out to be a great opportunity for me to meet some of Ingrid's co-workers, including Xian (her assistant - the guy on the left) and Peter (the person primarly works with - the second guy from the left in the first picture of this post). Prior to the party, Ingrid told me Peter recalled going to school with a guy who had the same last name as me (and Ingrid). Turns out that Peter went to junior high with my brother, and didn't have the fondest recollection of him. In fact, his primary recollection was playing "Butts Up" with my brother -- a childhood game where the loser gets a tennis ball thrown at his butt. According to Peter, instead of following the standard rule of throwing a tennis ball, my brother punched Peter in the face. Definitely sounds like my brother. I'm just glad Peter has a forgiving heart.

Not only did Ingrid's co-workers get Clementine for the party, but they also got a fruit tart from Porto's, another one of Ingrid's favorites.

And if that wasn't enough, toward the end of the party, everyone presented us with this wonderful gift -- a fancy high chair for the baby, which I'm sure he'll love. Thanks so much, everyone, for the wonderful surprise shower.
